Podolsky|Circle CORFAC International Represents Knight Transportation in 35-Acre Indianapolis Land Acquisition

Chicago, IL (January 20, 2015) –CORFAC International President Scott Savacool, CCIM, SIOR, announced today that Steven Tick, SIOR, with Podolsky|Circle CORFAC International in Chicago, IL, has represented Knight Transportation in the 35-acre, $4 million property purchase located at 3875 Plainfield Road in the Indianapolis suburb of Plainfield, IN.

The deal, and client relationship with Knight Transportation, was referred by Lester Osborn, CCIM, SIOR, with Piedmont Properties/CORFAC International in Charlotte, NC. It is the fourth transaction completed by Tick and Osborn in the Midwest on behalf of the trucking and transportation company.

Tick recently managed Knight Transportation’s acquisition of 35 acres in Plainfield. The fully paved surface had previously been used as a remote airport parking lot. Knight plans to use the property as an industrial truck maintenance and dispatch facility, plus create a new truck driving school on the site.

In Tick’s first transaction with Knight, he assisted the transportation company in the purchase of a 13-acre land site in Joliet, IL. Four to five years later, Knight had Tick represent them in the lease of three acres in McCook, IL, that the company used for a remote drop lot to store and park trucks. Then Tick represented Knight in a seven-year lease of an approximately 24,800-square-foot truck maintenance facility that was on the Joliet site to Wingfoot Commercial Tire, a division of Goodyear.

Lester Osborn first started doing business with Knight Transportation when he sold a Knight facility in Charlotte in the late 1990s. It was a 20-acre terminal where they removed the dock facility and replaced it with a shop maintenance facility on the land they retained. In 2002 he sold seven acres of surplus land for Knight and is currently working on two other projects for the company.

More than 20 years ago Knight Transportation started with just a handful of trucks and one service center in Phoenix, AZ, and now operates 28 major operating centers in over 20 states. The company is traded on the New York Stock Exchange (KNX) and has been listed by Forbes Magazine as one of the Top 200 Best Small Companies 15 years in a row.
